Abstract

The use of antibiotics is the most widely recognized risk factor of Clostridium difficile (C. difficile)-associated diarrhea. Other established risk factors are hospitalization, advanced age, and severe illness. Possible additional risk factors include gastric acid suppression, enteral feeding, gastrointestinal surgery, and cancer chemotherapy. In the diabetic foot infections, empiric antibiotic therapy should be started for preventing severe complication. We report a patient with diabetic foot ulcers and antibiotic-associated pseudomembranous colitis after resection of a huge Baker¡¯s cyst.
